Program and Policy Evaluators uses a variety of social science research methods to determine whether government or non-profit social programs and policies are having a positive impact on the people they are intended to serve, and whether the program or policy can be improved.
There is a vocal and influential anti-capitalist movement within the field of evaluation that seeks to curtail private property rights and redistribute vast amounts of resources in the name of social justice, equity, and the “common good.” It is the belief of the author of this blog that anti-capitalist policies which seek to eliminate private ownership of the means of production, confiscate and redistribute wealth, and substitute voluntary exchanges with centralized government control exacerbate the societal ills they want to eliminate.
The purpose of this blog is to provide arguments against anti-capitalist theories in the field of evaluation and advocate for individual liberty and private property rights, which have been the greatest force for reducing poverty in human history.
